According to Rae, Wakuli was founded in 2019 to eliminate “bad coffee” from the world. “The coffee farmer is the most important element in determining a coffee taste. Despite this, it turns out that they often barely earn enough to make ends meet. It is therefore not possible to arm oneself against climate change, which causes crops to fail more often. We want to change that by making coffee that does justice to production costs and gives the opportunity to invest in the planet.” In addition to selling coffee, however, Wakuli also got the idea to market coffee bars. “In view of the holidays, this had to be done within a month,” Rae says. So there was considerable time pressure, but this was not to be at the expense of quality. “Since no one knew about the coffee bars yet, it was incredibly important that the product look great. We needed 3,000 packages as soon as possible. Who could we entrust this to?”

Choice of The Pouch Factory

Rae came across several partners on Google. She chose Pouch Factory: “I saw that they had a neat price and short delivery time. There were also several options available in terms of the size of the packaging. The latter was very important to me: if the packaging was too big, it would look like it was not made for the product. The bar had to have a luxury look, so it had to fit perfectly. The fact that the Pouch Factory, like us, considers sustainability very important was a nice bonus.” Rae ordered a sample pack from the Pouch Factory, and one of the pack sizes turned out to be a good fit. We discussed the basics – whether the packs needed to be resealable, for example – but also important details. Did Wakuli prefer round or square corners? “The Pouch Factory had looked at our website and already recommended a certain finish themselves that would go nicely with the packaging of our other products. They were very interested in our company and the new coffee bar. I really liked that they didn’t just focus on what to do. Also, we didn’t have to wait long for an answer. There were times when I was startled awake at night and thought, I’ve never worked with this company before. A lot depends on this production, would this work out? After all, there was no time for trial packaging.”

A beautiful end result

Although the time pressure was high, the Pouch Factory was able to deliver the 3,000 packs just a few days before the deadline. “I didn’t expect that. Really super!”, says Rae. “Not only because it was successful on time, but also because the packaging looks super stylish. The finish is similar to our existing products, so the bar fits well into our assortment. I could breathe an immediate sigh of relief. The look and feel is exactly how we envisioned it. Also nice: we now see that the coffee bars are selling well!” All in all: a great collaboration with a great end result. And we will meet more often. Rae: “Our company is growing fast. Therefore, there will be new projects again where we will need product packaging that needs to be finished quickly. I now know that I can rely on the Pouch Factory and certainly do not hesitate to work together again!”
