“Pure Life”
Martijn went looking for a party who could think along with him on this. “I wanted to make the step to our new branding in one go. That was exciting: we had a somewhat older target group that was used to our plastic packaging. How would they feel about new packaging?” he says. In addition to having a party to develop new packaging, it was nice if they could think along with us. And with that, of course, it would also be nice if they understood the business. “We have products that sell a lot and products that are less likely to cross the counter. With many parties, you could only order the same number of packages. That was not practical. Especially since these packages were often offered in one and the same size. But not every vitamin pill is the same size. How was I supposed to handle that?”
That’s how Martijn ended up at the Pouch Factory. “They understood this problem and thought along,” the owner says with satisfaction. So the Pouchfabriek made 20 unique packages for 20 different Pure Life products. The quantities in this varied from 100 pieces to 2,500 pieces. But it wasn’t just the flexibility offered by the Pouch Factory that pleased Martijn. “The human aspect was also nice. After my application, I was immediately invited to the office to brainstorm. There were many options: shiny, matte, paper…. Which one should I choose? Not all of our products could stand heat and light well. That had to be taken into account, although the products also had to be securely packaged…. It was very nice that we could spar together about this.”
During the collaboration, the Pouch Factory also calculated on how much CO2 Pure Life would save with new packaging. The result? A whopping 78 percent savings! “There was a lot of space left in the plastic pots that was not being used. So we were using a lot of plastic unnecessarily,” says Martijn. So in addition to reaching a new target group, Martijn was able to be more sustainable. That the Pouch Factory is socially responsible and thinks in sustainable solutions has been important to Pure Life. “Sustainability fits well with the wishes of our customers and our brand experience. After all, nature is central to us, so then it’s nice if we can also use sustainable packaging.”
In the end, the outside of the packaging was realized in paper. “That gives a sustainable look. The inner layer is metallized, so our products are resistant to UV radiation,” Martijn explains. A nice end result, how does he envision the future now? “Of course we will remain customers of the Pouch Factory,” laughs Martijn. “We still have smaller products where there is unnecessary space in the packaging. That has to change. The process of rebranding is very radical. You can’t just say: now I’m without products for a while because I haven’t received the packaging yet. Communication and flexibility is very important in such a cooperation. That’s where the Pouch factory really excels.”
