LEEK Food Solutions
Sanders’ idea went hand in hand with a clear mission: get people to eat healthier with natural flavorings in the form of pure spice mixes. “I want to offer an alternative to brands like Knorr and Conimex, which often contain a lot of unnecessary additives,” he says ambitiously. To present his spices properly, he entered into a discussion with Rob Engelman of the Pouch Factory in January 2025. “I found that exciting,” Sander admits. “I only had an idea, no design or logo. Rob immediately put me at ease and said he felt like helping me. He was very excited that I was going to get LEEK Food Solutions off the ground.”
Strategic packaging
Sander wanted to start selling his herbs in March 2025. “I wanted to design the sachets myself, so that took some doing,” he says. “In those early stages, I had a lot of contact with Rob. He was easy to reach and thought about everything from the readability of the texts on the design to which program I could best use.” Next came the choice of the right packaging material. “There were many options,” Sander says. “But in the end I chose small paper bags, which are sustainable and recyclable.” Since Sander sells his herbs through his Web shop, he also had to think about shipping. The solution: a larger stand-up bag in which the sachets are bundled. “That also looks nice on the countertop,” he says. For this stand-up pouch, the Pouch Factory recommended choosing mono material, keeping in mind PPWR legislation. “We chose mono-plastic: well recyclable and ideal for shipping. Should it rain or damage the packaging, the contents remain well protected.”
Double success
And then the moment was there: the very first packaging from LEEK Food Solutions! What does Sander himself think about it? “The quality is better than I expected,” he says enthusiastically. “The size is just right, handy and easy to open. Shipping is also flawless.” His target audience is also positive. Sander: “I hear back that people find the packaging cheerful and attractive. It feels like a present for yourself, but it’s also nice to give to someone else.” The latter surprised him. “My product was initially intended for my own use, but thanks to the beautiful packaging I have now created two buying intentions. How cool is that?”
Currently, Sander is fully engaged in selling his herbs. “When I need new packaging, I will definitely contact them again,” he says enthusiastically. He looks back on the collaboration with a good feeling. “The Pouch Factory helped me tremendously in starting my business. Many companies are purely focused on handling orders, but with the Pouch Factory it felt involved and sincere. They go out of their way to provide the best end result and thus contribute to the success of my new business.”
