Two sisters, one mission. Through their start-up Sorelle Supplements, Johanneke and Marrit Hagenbeek support women in the early stages of menopause with natural supplements. To market these supplements well, attractive packaging was important. How did they end up with the Pouch Factory and how did they experience the cooperation? Johanneke: “Our contact person clearly had a great passion for his field.”

Practical and durable

Menopause: according to Johanneke, this is often thought of women at age 50. “However, you can already experience symptoms of it from the age of 40. Think reduced concentration, low libido or worse sleep. Not every woman knows that the cause of these complaints lies in a pre-phase of menopause. There is a taboo on it and we want to break that.” To reach this target group, the sisters wanted to use pouches as packaging for the supplements. Johanneke: “Women in their forties are often still very active in the work field and focus on climbing the career ladder. They are on the road a lot. A jar is not practical then, a pouch can easily fit in the bag and is more visually appealing.” Sustainability also played a crucial role in the packaging choice. “Our capsules are vegan and we use natural herbs. We always make our choices with the environment in mind. A jar is not sustainable, pouches can just go through the mailbox. However, we couldn’t find a provider of recyclable pouches. Until we saw the Pouch Factory come along.”

High-quality workmanship and valuable advice

The sustainable aspect was not the only thing Johanneke noticed about Pouch Factory’s pouches. “I read that they would feature high-quality workmanship and Pouch Factory had a short delivery time compared to competitors.” Also very appealing to Johanneke was the minimum print run of pouches. “This one was fairly low. The Pouch Factory used a competitive price for this. For a start-up like us, that was very interesting.” A meeting quickly came about, during which the Pouchfabriek specialists exchanged views with Sorelle Supplements about the future pouch. Johanneke: “They had an approach that was accessible and came across as knowledgeable. That really appealed to me.” Sorelle Supplements itself already had a clear idea of the future design that would go on the pouch. This was designed by an outside designer. At the Pouch Factory, we acted as a sparring partner. Johanneke: “They gave us valuable advice, which made the expectations between both parties clear. For example, our original drawing extended to the side of the packaging. The Pouch Factory advised us a larger margin to avoid cutting loss.”

Committed and passionate attitude

How does Johanneke look back on our collaboration? “The pouches are of good quality, have nice full colors and contain a beautiful copper accent. The latter was a specific wish on our part, and we are happy that we succeeded. We had a picture in our heads beforehand about how the packaging should look. That image matches the end result.” Johanneke is also enthusiastic about the contact with the Pouch Factory. “Our contact person clearly had a great passion for his field. There was even a moment when he called us back from the ski slope. That clearly shows the level of commitment.” Johanneke therefore looks positively to the future. “Soon we will launch an additional formula that will require pouches. For this I will definitely turn to the Pouch Factory again.”
