Optimal protection

Moisture, air, and UV light are the biggest threats to the quality of supplements, vitamins, and nutrition. Rob explains:

“Moisture can cause clumping in powders, promote mold growth, and affect the texture of capsules or tablets. Air accelerates the oxidation of ingredients, which not only reduces effectiveness but also shortens shelf life. Additionally, light, especially UV radiation, impacts sensitive nutrients such as vitamins, fatty acids, and amino acids. This can lead to flavor loss, color changes, and a decrease in nutritional value.” Want to prevent this? Choosing a pouch over a jar for your (sports) supplements, vitamins, or nutrition is the better option. Rob explains: “Jars often allow air to pass through after opening, causing oxidation to occur more rapidly. They also offer less effective UV protection and often require an additional seal to keep moisture out. A pouch, on the other hand, combines an airtight seal with multiple protective layers directly integrated into the material.”

Practical and easy to use

Beyond better protection, a pouch is also more practical compared to other types of packaging for your (sports) supplements, vitamins, and nutrition. Rob explains: “While jars often contain a lot of unused space, pouches adjust to the contents inside. For a target audience that is frequently on the go, such as athletes or busy professionals, this is ideal: they can easily take the product with them. A pouch can also withstand impacts in a bag, and compared to glass, it is significantly lighter. This makes a pouch a convenient solution.”

Sustainable and future-proof

While supplements contribute to better health, a pouch contributes to a more sustainable world. Rob explains: “A pouch uses significantly less material than traditional plastic jars or glass containers. Its flexible design requires fewer raw materials in production, directly leading to less waste. Additionally, pouches are lighter and take up less space during transport. This not only means lower transport costs but also a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions.” With the new PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation), sustainable packaging is becoming increasingly important. Rob adds: “Pouches made from mono-material – a single type of raw material – are easy to recycle, making them a future-proof solution. This prepares you for stricter regulations. But it’s also beneficial for your brand: it allows you to showcase sustainability directly.”

Attractive Design

Striking visuals, brand logos, colors, and product information – a pouch offers plenty of space for all of it. Rob explains: “They have large, flat surfaces that can be fully printed, unlike jars, where design is often limited to a label. This allows you to fully inform customers about the product, including nutritional details, without compromising the design.” There are many design possibilities: “You could opt for a transparent design, allowing customers to see the product directly. This gives them an immediate look at the quality of your product, which builds trust. Check out how we helped EkoPura Nutrition!
